JEANERETTE, La. (AP) - Jeanerette Police Chief Larry Jones says a man wanted since July 31 has turned himself in and been booked with second-degree murder.
Bond was set at $575,000 for 39-year-old Wilfred "Billy" Matthews of Four Corners.
He's accused of shooting 20-year-old Deaunte Tallmore on July 31.
Jones says Matthews was accompanied by defense attorney Robert James Pastor of New Orleans when he turned himself in to Jeanerette Police about midmorning Monday.
Pastor was in court Wednesday and unavailable for immediate comment.
Iberia Parish court records show Matthews served a five-year
sentence after pleading guilty in January 2005 to aggravated battery for stabbing and beating a 14-year-old boy.
