United States Air Force Sgt. Jason Rolls has bonded out of jail for the second time. His bond was set at $60,000. The conditions of his release is that he has a GPS ankle bracelet and he must stay on Barksdale Air Force Base. The GPS will be monitored by Pineville Police Department. Also, he can not have any alcohol or posses a firearm.
Rolls' bond was set Friday morning after another continuance was requested by prosecutors. According to court documents, the motion for continuance was du to additional evidence not reported by the Kortz Spring Police Department.
Rolls' attorney says he doesn't forsee anymore delays in this case.
His trial is set for April 22,2013, jury selection will be April 3, 2013.
Rolls is accused of the May 2010 shooting death of his wife's ex-husband Michael Hall. According to the police report, Hall entered the newlywed's Krotz Springs home without their permission. Hall then assaulted them. In police statements, when the two men met Hall tackled Rolls, ripping his shirt as they fell to the ground. Jason then grabbed for a nearby gun and shot Hall once in the chest, killing Hall who was unarmed. Jason and Twaila Rolls had only been married a few hours when the incident happened.
Rolls claimed self-defense when he was arrested at the scene. A grand jury charged him less than a year later with manslaughter.
