Kuniko Yamamoto will perform at two St. Mary Parish Library branches on July 1.
Yamamoto offers dramatic storytelling using myths and fables from ancient and modern Japan, spiced with social revelations to educate and amuse.
She uses traditional Japanese music, handcrafted masks, stylized movement and a touch of magic to create an artistic balance of illusion and reality.
For younger children, she uses Japanese storytelling with Origami using folded paper animals and faces, which come alive in folk tales.
Every program encourages audience interaction and participation, with each narrative carefully selected for cultural and moral perspectives.
She was trained in dance and traditional arts in her native Osaka, Japan.
Yamamoto will perform at the Bayou Vista branch on July 1 at 10 a.m. and the Franklin branch on July 1st at 2 p.m.
