J-turns & frontage roads on U.S. 90

J-turns and frontage roads are being added to increase safety on U.S. 90 in Iberia and St. Martin Parishes. The frontage roads project is part of upgrading the highway to interstate standards.
The J-turn project runs from the Billeaud Overpass to Wall Rd. in St. Martin Parish. Traffic studies have shown J-turns will address safety issues at intersections along that stretch of U.S. 90, Department of Transportation and Development Public Information Officer Deidra Druilhet. "A lot of times, installing a traffic light is not an option," she said.
The frontage road project includes building frontage roads on U.S. 90 from Darnall Rd. to LA 85. Work began in August 2012 and it's expected to be completed by this Fall.
