Isaac: Other Cancellations/Closures

Allied Waste Services routes scheduled for Wednesday are suspended and are expected to resume on Thursday, weather permitting and once roadways are declared safe for travel. Wednesday routes will be run on Thursday; Friday routes run on Saturday.


Gordon's Disposal and Progressive Disposal have both suspended their Wednesday routes. All routes will be pushed back one day, with Friday routes running on Saturday.


All flights out of New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport scheduled for Thursday have been canceled.


The Journey concert at the Cajundome has been postponed to October 16th.


The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announces the temporary
closing of Elmer's Island, located on the southwestern tip of Jefferson Parish.


Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System (SLVHCS) will close its community-based outpatient clinics located throughout southeast Louisiana beginning Tuesday. At this time they will remain closed through Thursday and reopen on Friday for regularly scheduled appointments. These clinics include:

All Veterans are advised to follow evacuation orders given by local city and parish governments.
No SLVHCS facilities or clinics will serve as emergency shelters and parking will not be available at any of our locations.

The Cardiovascular Institute of the South clinics in Houma, Thibodaux, Raceland, Galliano, Morgan City, New Iberia, Lafayette, Opelousas, Crowley, BreauxBridge, Baton Rouge, and Zachary will be closed on Thursday.

LASERS Closed Due to Hurricane Isaac
Baton Rouge-- Executive Director Cindy Rougeou announced today that the Louisiana
State Employees' Retirement System (LASERS), located at 8401 United Plaza Blvd. in
Baton Rouge, will be closed Thursday due to
Hurricane Isaac. Additional closures may occur as necessary.

LDWF Postpones the Opening of the East Zone Alligator Harvest Season Due to TS Isaac

BATON ROUGE -- The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is postponing the opening of the EAST ZONE 2012 Wild Alligator Harvest Season due to the impending landfall of Tropical Storm Isaac. The Aug. 29 opening in the East Zone has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1.

At this time, the West Zone alligator season is still scheduled to open on Sept. 5., pending assessment of storm impacts and the progression of alligator harvest in the East Zone. St. Landry-Evangeline United Way has canceled all Community Conversations that were scheduled for the week of August 27. The conversations that were scheduled for Tuesday, August 28 at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Opelousas and Thursday, August 30th at St. Mathilda Catholic Chuch in Eunice will be rescheduled after the storm.

New Iberia City Hall will be closed Thursday. The city's emergency number is 369-2300. Press 8, and calls will be transferred to a dispatcher.


Opelousas City Court will close at 3:00 pm Tuesday and will remain closed on Wednesday. The court
will reopen for business on Thursday, August 30, 2012.
The Iberia Parish Library will be closed Thurday

Wednesday's St. Landry Parish Council Special Meeting has been postponed until September 5.
All branches of Rayne State Bank will close at 4:00 P. M. Tuesday and will remain closed on Wednesday. Normal business hours resume on Thursday.
The Junior League's Tinsel and Treasure Sponsor Party has been postponed until September 6.

Due to weather conditions associated with Tropical Storm Isaac, the Lafayette Council of Governments, Inc. (COG) Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. has been CANCELLED. COG President Jay Castille states that the meeting will be rescheduled at LEDA on a date in September.


LARC Vocational Day Program and LARC Acadian Village are both closed Thursday.


All branches of the Iberia Parish Library will be closing today, August 28 at noon and will be closed tomorrow, August 29 due to Isaac. Regular hours will resume on Thursday, August 30.
Acadiana Women's monthly meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled.

Activities at First Baptist Lafayette are cancelled Wednesday.


The St. Landry Parish Courthouse will close today 8/28 at noon and remain closed through Wednesday.


Opelousas City Court will close today 8/28 at noon and remain closed through Wednesday.


Iberia parish has announced that household garbage, bulky waste and recycling services has been suspended for Wednesday. Crews are working on routes today. For the remainder of the week, their routes for all three services will be running one day behind schedule.

In St. Landry Parish, for those who use IESI, residents living "inside the city limits" of Opelousas, Eunice, Krotz Springs, Port Barre and Leonville who normally have garbage pickup Wednesday, August 29th will not be picked up till Saturday, September 1, 2012. Residents living "outside the city limits" who normally have garbage pickup on Wednesday, August 29,2012 will be picked up on Thursday, August 30, 2012 weather permitting.


The Vermilion Parish Police Jury Committee meetings for Wednesday, August 29, 2012 have been cancelled.


Teche Action Clinic sites will be closed through Wednesday. They will reopen on Thursday at 7:30 A. M.


Bancorp South locations in Acadiana will close at 4:00 P. M. Tuesday and will remain closed through Thursday.


Evangeline Downs has postponed Wednesday's races until September 4.


Destiny of Faith Christian Center Church in Lafayette will be closed Wednesday. The 7:00 P. M. service has been canceled.
The St. Landry Parish Landfill in Beggs will stop regular operations at 5:00 P. M. Tuesday and will remain closed Wednesday. Operations will resume Thursday, weather permitting.


Eunice City Court hearings scheduled for Wednesday rescheduled for September 5.


The Acadia, Lafayette and Vermilion Parish Courthouses will be closed on Wednesday. Business will resume as usual on Thursday. If conditions warrant extended closures, further instructions will be sent to this news station and posted on the Court's website.


Eunice City Hall will close Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at 12:00 Noon. Weather permitting, the Eunice City Hall will re-open Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 8:00 AM.
Carencro High football game at East St. John has been canceled


The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has closed Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge in Cameron Parish in advance of landfall of Hurricane Isaac.

With this closure, 27 state wildlife management areas (WMAs) and refuges are now closed until further notice.

In addition to the Rockefeller site, the following areas are also closed: The Acadiana Conservation Corridor, Atchafalaya Delta, Attakapas, Biloxi, Elm Hall, Grassy Lake, Hutchinson Creek, Joyce, Lake Boeuf, Lake Ramsey, Manchac, Marsh Island, Maurepas Swamp, Pass a Loutre, Pearl River, Pointe au Chenes, Pomme de Terre, Salvador-Timken, Sandy Hollow, Sherburne, Spring Bayou, State WMA, Tangipahoa, Thistlethwaite, Tunica Hills and White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area.

Michael Mitchell, Transit & Parking Manager, announced Lafayette Transit System (LTS) will suspend regular fixed route, paratransit and Night Owl bus service on Tuesday, August 29, 2012 at 6:30 PM due to the emergency declaration for Lafayette Parish signed at 10 AM this morning by City-Parish President Joey Durel.

The beginning of our regularly scheduled transit services after this suspension will also be delayed temporarily, from our normal 6:30 AM service time to 7:30 AM. This delay is to permit transit staff to evaluate the impact of Isaac on LTS routes, including downed trees and /or downed power lines and to make adjustments if necessary.

LTS is currently scheduled to resume service on Thursday, August 30th, however, if the current emergency declaration is extended, LTS may not be operational until, Friday, August 31, 2012.

Waste Management has suspended Wednesday service. Service is expected to resume Thursday.


The United States Postal Service will suspend mail delivery and retail services at all Lafayette post offices by 2:00 P. M. Today. Postal employees are asked to call the National Employee Emergency Hotline at 1-888-363-7462 for updated reporting information.


Krotz Springs Town Hall closed Thursday.


The Family Church's Mothers' Day Out has been canceled.


LANTEC of Louisiana will be closed Thursday.


The Family Violence Intervention Program has canceled classes until next Tuesday.

Duson Magistrate Court will be closed Thursday.


University Medical Center - Lafayette - All outpatient clinics and elective surgeries are canceled Thursday, August 30. At this time, plans are to reopen on Friday, August 31, but patients should monitor the media for updates should weather conditions change.


Broussard Magistrate Court canceled for Thursday. Anyone that has a court date scheduled for Thursday in Broussard needs to come in to the Broussard Police Department by the end of next week to get a new court date.


SMILE Community Action offices in St. Martin, Iberia, Lafayette, Acadia and Jeff Davis Parishes will be closed Thursday.


District Court in Jennings will be closed Thursday.


Arc of St. Martin will be closed Thursday.


United Blood Services will be closed Thursday.


16th Judicial Court buildings and Clerks of Court offices will be closed.


West Lafayette Dialysis will open later than planned. The staff will contact patients to notify them of the opening time.


St. Martin Parish Libraries closed Thursday.
