The investigation continues overnight when Iberia Parish Deputies found a four-year-old is found dead in New Iberia.
Deputies are treating the investigation as a homicide at this time but are waiting for results from the coroner's office.
Family members say the four-year-old's name is Rayneesha Hudson and Deputies have been speaking with her family all night, trying to find out just how the little girl died.
"We're waiting on the coroner's office to confirm a cause of death and a manner of death," Detective Ashley Irby said.
Deputies say they treat any suspicious death as a homicide. It does not mean homicide charges will follow, but they say it is a possibility.
Since around six-o'clock Thursday evening, detectives were collecting evidence from the home where the four-year-old was found dead. Detectives booked bags of items as well as a stove and a car parked in the driveway of the Spencer Loop home in New Iberia.
A home neighbors say, for the most part, kept to themselves.
"I'd see the young man washing his vehicle and go about his way," neighbor, Carl Gilliam said.
Most neighbors KATC talked with said they rarely talked with the family- but the neighborhood is concerned.
"I just seen the ambulance come and take the little kids and put them in," Kimberly Clark recalled.
Many neighbors still searching for answers- how did this little girl die? And... Why?
"It's a touchy thing to see something like this happen at your doorstep." Gilliam says, "at this moment, my heart will go out to the family."
Family added the four-year-old is the daughter of Vanessa Riles and Ramone Hudson. As of 10 PM Thursday night, Detectives were still interviewing family. They say they don't expect any new information until the coroner completes an autopsy on Friday.
