MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) - Police said a Moss Point couple was
wounded in an exchange of gunfire that killed a man who tried to
get inside their home.
Detective J.D. Savage tells The Sun Herald that the
investigation points to circumstances that could result in a case
of justifiable homicide.
Police identified Charles and Rita Ray as the couple injured
shortly before 11:15 a.m. Sunday.
Police said the unidentified man died at the scene. His name was
being withheld pending notification of relatives. Jackson County
Coroner Vicki Broadus said he is from New Orleans.
A spokesman for Singing River Hospital said Rita Ray was in
stable condition late Sunday, when she was transferred to the
University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. The spokesman
said Charles Ray was treated and released.
