Interim superintendent named in Madison Parish

MONROE, La. (AP) - A retired school administrator from East
Carroll Parish has been named interim superintendent of Madison Parish Schools.
Donald Frazier replaces Superintendent Sam Dixon, whose contract with the district was terminated early this week. The News-Star reported that the appointment was made during a special school board meeting Thursday.
Board members hope to have a new superintendent in place before the beginning of the next school year.
More than half of all students in Madison Parish are scoring below grade level on the state's standardized tests. Out of 72 districts statewide, Madison ranked 69th in number of students performing on grade level.
