Inspector general commends Orleans airport board

The board that runs the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is being commended by the New Orleans inspector general for improvements in its contracting process.
A 2013 review of airport contracting practices said the board had, in previous years, allowed some contracts to operate on a month-to-month basis, approved labor rates that didn't comply with contracts and had approved payment of invoices without proper documentation.
Inspector General Ed Quatrevaux's follow-up on Wednesday said the current management of the city-owned airport has taken actions to correct problems cited in the report - and noted cases in which corrective actions were already under way when the report was issued.
