Inmate escapes from Baton Rouge courthouse

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Deputies are searching for a 34-year-old man who escaped from the East Baton Rouge Parish Courthouse.
Casey Rayborn Hicks, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office,said Demond Cook was being transported to the
court Tuesday by deputies from the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office for sentencing when he escaped.
Hicks said Cook was found guilty of two counts of armed robbery and one count of second-degree kidnapping on Sept. 9. Cook was being housed in a jail in Catahoula Parish pending sentencing.
Hicks said Cook was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and gray sweat pants.
