The partial lockdown at Indian Bayou Elementary School has been lifted. The school's principal says the partial lockdown was put in place this morning as a "precautionary measure." She said she could not divulge any other information about the situation. The principal adds the school was not on lockdown yesterday. She says that situation was a drill.
Superintendent Jerome Puyau also says he cannot say what the situation resulting in the lockdown, but he did say the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office was aware of what triggered it. When asked what was going on at the school, officials at the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office referred us back to the school board. School board officials refused to divulge the cause of the lockdown when we called back.
