As of last Friday, Broussard Police Chief Brannon Decou has taken a proactive approach to increasing the safety of the community during the holidays. Chief Decou placed extra patrol enforcement in and around shopping centers and banks of Broussard to prevent and deter crimes that are becoming more and more prevalent in Lafayette Parish and surrounding areas. The extra patrol officers have the sole responsibility of providing saturated patrol in these shopping areas to ensure additional safety for holiday shoppers and motorists throughout the holiday season.
Additionally, approximately one year ago, Chief Decou facilitated a financial institutions program that places officers in each and every financial institution within the city limits of Broussard at random times of the day to deter bank robberies.
The goal of this proactive movement is to protect the entities within the city of Broussard and to ensure that the members of the community remain safe and secure throughout the holidays.
