Press Release- Sheriff Melancon advises that the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office is presently investigating the following incidents:
-Burglary of a residence on Hains Road near Crowley.
-Assault that occurred between siblings at Kathy Apartments. No arrests were made.
-Grass Fire Brigman Hwy & Pitreville Hwy near Eunice.
-Field fire on Everest Road near Church Point.
-Theft of a debit card from a residence on Mouton Vincent Road near Crowley.
-Grass Fire Hwy 98 and Credeur Road near Scott. Mire Fire Department responded.
-Grass Fire St. Henry & Charlene Hwy. near Eunice.
-Reports of motorist passing school bus while loading and unloading children near Harmon Road & Iota Hwy.
-Stabbing that occurred at an Apartment Complex near Crowley. Upon arrival the victim refused to cooperate with deputies. No charges filed.
-Theft of a computer tower taken from a commercial business in Mermentau.
-Deputies assisted Church Point Police Department with a vehicle pursuit. The vehicle flipped on West Plaquemine Road near Church Point. No one injured.
-A three year old is in stable condition following a farm accident near Eunice. According to the responding officers, the three year old was riding with his father on a large tractor and fell off. The child was transported to Acadian Medical Center in Eunice and later air lifted to Lafayette General.
-Mailbox vandalism on Beatrice Road near Church Point.
-Theft of a laptop computer taken from a residence on Eugene Dupuis Road near Rayne.
-Theft of a Champion 30 gallon air compressor with a 13 Kolher engine from a residence on Abbeville Hwy near Rayne.
-Field fire on Leroy Breaux Road near Rayne. Rayne Fire Department responded to call.
-Attempted burglary of a residence on Fontenot Road near Rayne.
Detectives are investigating an Armed Robbery that occurred early Sunday morning near Church Point. According to responding deputies, a group of young men were parked in a driveway on Maggie Lane when a light colored Ford Taurus pulled in behind them and blocking them in. Two black male subjects exited the vehicle each carrying a handgun. The driver of the vehicle was robbed of his money and cell phone at gunpoint. A friend and passing motorist was able to obtain a license plate number from the Ford Taurus. The victims then drove to the Branch area where they were able to flag down a Trooper with Louisiana State Police who contacted the Sheriff's Office.
Following an investigation, Detectives arrested Tavin Ray Faul, age 18, of S. Wimberly, Church Point and placed in the Acadia Parish Jail charged with Armed Robbery. His bond is set at $100,000. As the investigation continues, Detectives are expecting additional arrest.
Anyone having information or knowing the identity of the two black male subjects is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 788-8700 or 789-TIPS.
-Motor vehicle accident that occurred on Coin Road near Rayne. The driver apparently ran off the roadway into a ditch. No damage to vehicle reported.
-Mailbox vandalism Albert Venable Road near Church Point.
-Motorcycle accident on Monceaux Road south of Hwy 90. Deputies advise a dog ran onto the roadway and was struck by the motorcycle that was being driven by Ray Carr of Rayne. Carr was transported to Our Lady of Lourdes in serious condition. Helen Lavergne, age 23, of Monceaux Road, Rayne, was issued a citation by Animal Control for animal at large.
-Deputies responded to a disturbance on Riverside Road. Following a brief investigation, citation were issued to:
Jane Comeaux, age 48 of Riverside Road, Iota for Disturbing the Peace by fighting;
Beulah Singletary, age 26 of Riverside Road, Iota Disturbing the Peace by fighting;
Sarah Louviere, age 46, of Gerald Court, Evangeline, Disturbing the Peace by fighting;
Anthony Bourque, age 25, of Gerald Court, Evangeline. Disturbing the Peace by Fighting
Heidi Bourque, age 20 of Gerald Court, Evangeline. Disturbing the Peace by fighting.
-Theft of a generator and camcorder from a residence on Rasberry Lane near Iota.
-Deputies responded to a disturbance on Faith Lane near Church Point. Following a brief investigation, deputies arrested:
Daniel Ray Breaux, II, age 30
Jessica Aguillard, age 19
both of Faith Lane, Church Point and charged them with Second Degree Battery and Criminal Trespassing. Bond was set at $10,317.50 on each.
-Theft of scrap metal taken from a commercial business located on Credeur Road near Mire.
-Theft of two tractor tires and rims from field on Dr. Parrot near Church Point.
-An accident involving a juvenile that occurred on Lyons Point Hwy. According to deputies a juvenile riding a Polaris ATV rolled over on a juvenile. Air Med transported the juvenile to Lafayette General.
-The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office & the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry Livestock Brand Commission Brand Inspectors investigated the killing of pregnant cow that occurred in a field on Grey Fox Highway near Iota.
According to investigators, Billie Joe Kilgore, age 32, of Mamou Prairie Road, Iota allegedly killed the pregnant cow, cooked and ate the unborn calf and then quartered the mama cow and threw the meat in a field.
Kilgore has been charged with criminal trespassing, theft and aggravated cruelty to animals. His bond was set at $42,500.
Sheriff Melancon stated that as the investigation continues additional arrests are expected.
-Theft of an IESI trashcan valued at $60 taken from a residence located on Prudence Hwy, Church Point.
-Theft of a Brahama calf taken from a field on Tanner Road near Scott.
-Anthony Thibodeaux, age 48, Atteberry Road, Eunice was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery following an investigation. His bond was set at $5,000.
An Acadia Parish Investigator arrested a 15-year-old juvenile for possession of a stolen 2007 Honda 4 wheeler. According to the investigator, a concerned citizen reported the juvenile riding the 4 wheeler on Hains Road near Rayne. Following a brief investigation the Investigator learned the four wheeler had been stolen from a residence on Hains Road. The juvenile was released into the custody of his parents pending court.
