NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A former owner of Illinois-based technology companies has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for plotting to bribe school officials to get federal contracts for Internet access services at schools in Louisiana, Arkansas and Illinois.

U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier in New Orleans on Thursday sentenced 59-year-old Gloria Harper to 30 months in prison for her guilty plea last year to a conspiracy charge.

Harper, a former owner of Global Networking Technologies Inc. and Computer Training Associates, is one of 24 people who have pleaded guilty, been convicted at trial or entered civil settlements in a fraud investigation involving the federal E-Rate program.

Prosecutors said Harper conspired to get contracts by bribing school officials to cede control of the program's competitive bidding process.
