Three people were killed in a helicopter crash in southwest Cameron Parish. Investigators say the chopper crashed about five miles from Lake Charles Regional Airport. Federal investigators are at the crash site now, trying to determine what happened.
The FAA says the chopper left Lake Charles Regional about 30 minutes before the crash on a maintenance test flight.

Accorcing to KPLC out of Lake Charles, the victims are William Croucher of California, who was the pilot. Michael Tyree of Iowa and Timothy Goehring of Sulphur were also killed.

The chopper was owned by Era Helicopters, which has headquarters in Lake Charles.

A company spokesman says the chopper was a twin engine, 12 passenger aircraft capable of higher speeds and traveling greater distances than most choppers.
