ID Released for Pedestrian Hit on I-10

On the evening of Sunday August 29, 2010 at approximately 10:36pm, officers with Lafayette Police Department responded to a major vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. The location of the crash was on Westbound Interstate 10, near the intersection of University Avenue. The vehicle involved was traveling westbound on Interstate 10, approaching the University Avenue off-ramp. For unknown reasons, the pedestrian walked into the path of the westbound vehicle, and was struck. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
The pedestrian is identified as:
Alfred W. Francis Age: 28 Lafayette, LA
The crash remains under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department Traffic Division.
