HUNTERSVILLE, NC (November 5, 2013) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced rookie goaltender Matt Zenzola of the Louisiana IceGators is the Easton Player of the Week for October 28-November 3.
Zenzola went 2-0-0 with a 1.03 goals against average and .971 save percentage as the IceGators took over the top spot in the standings with a pair of wins against previously-undefeated Pensacola.
Zenzola stopped all 39 shots he faced on Saturday, including 16 in the first period, in a 4-0 win over the Ice Flyers. On Sunday, the San Diego, CA native made 28 saves in a 4-2 win over Pensacola.
After starting the 2012-13 season with the Kerry Park Islanders of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League, Zenzola played 30 games with the Spokane Chiefs of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League. Zenzola also earned Spokane's only playoff win, making 50 saves in a 2-1 overtime win over the Castlegar Rebels.
