PLAQUEMINE, La. - An Iberville Parish jury has convicted
Wendell Wesley in the 2007 shooting death of a 44-year-old Bayou
Goula man.
District Attorney Ricky Ward says the jury found Wesley guilty
of second-degree murder Friday in the Feb. 2, 2007, death of
44-year-old James Bethley.
A second-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory life
sentence in prison without the benefit of probation, parole or a
suspended sentence.
The Advocate reports that state District Judge Alvin Batiste is
expected to sentence Wesley on May 11.
