On February 11, 2010 Deputies arrested Ricco Turner for simple robbery and battery of the infirmed. On January 31, 2010 Deputies with the Iberia parish Sheriff's office responded to a robbery at the 100 block of Rosier St. in the City of New Iberia. The male victim was walking on a side walk when he was approached by two males dressed all in black and had their faces concealed. The two males forcibly took the victims cell phone from him and fled the area. The victim sustained injuries from the altercation. Detectives received anonymous tips, which led to a suspect, Ricco Turner. Turner is a student at Iberia Senior High School.
After Detectives located Turner, they also learned the victim's phone was confiscated from Turner by a teacher as Turner was using the phone in class. A second 15 year old male suspect was also located and arrested with Turner.
Detectives also determined that the victim's cousin was involved in the robbery. He had the victim come to his residence which, allowed the other suspects to rob him as he was walking.
Turner was charged with simple robbery and battery of the infirmed. The second juvenile suspect was charged with simple robbery and the victim's cousin was charged with principal to simple robbery.
