NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) - The Iberia Parish School Board has
accepted bids for construction of a new Loreauville Elementary School, but no bids came under the estimated $12.65 million cost. The bids were taken under advisement Wednesday.
Superintendent Dale Henderson tells The Advocate the bids will be discussed with building experts, financial staff and others before awarding the project to any of the companies at a future meeting.
The next meeting is April 13.
If needed, the board will either vote to accept the bids with the increased price or ask for new ones.
The school will be built on a 20-acre site in Loreauville. The campus will include a 74,000-square-foot building, open-air pavilion and a baseball-softball complex. The current school is located in that same area.
