Multiple agencies remain on scene in New Iberia searching for accused murderer Paul Stanley Collins Jr., (left). Authorities are using specialized night-vision devices, monitoring the one-mile perimeter of a sugar cane field where Collins is believed to be hiding.
Police have been searching the field since 10 a.m. Thursday after Collins was spotted driving nearby, then running into the field. Crews combed the field, and helicopters searched from above but so far there has been no sign of Collins.
Police say a handgun was found in the vehicle that Collins abandoned along the side of the road, but he should still be considered armed and dangerous.
We still have a crew on scene; for updates throughout the night check out our facebook page by clicking here, and tune into Good Morning Acadiana for the latest developments, starting at 5 a.m.
