Iberia Parish Manhunt: Authorities Search for Jonathan Latham

Iberia Parish Deputies responded to a 911 call at 6:52am on Fremin Road from an 11-year-old girl who told Deputies that her grandfather was dead.
When Deputies arrived they found the brown honda in the driveway that had been stolen from the Thursday night case in Vermilion Parish and discovered that a 2008 black Honda with a handicapped licenses plate (H29 8023) was missing.


According to Deputies, upon entering the house they found that the 78-year-old man, identified as Oscar Figueroa was indeed dead and that the 11-year-old girl was severely beaten. The coroner tells KATC that Figueroa died from "multiple trauma", but an official report is still pending.


This case has now been ruled as a homicide and authorities are now looking for Latham who is described as a white male, 6ft tall, 200lbs, light brown hair and hazel eyes.


Latham is to be considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach him, if you see the car and/or Latham immediately call 911 or your local law enforcement.

Iberia parish deputies are looking for a suspect who is believed to have been involved in an assault and fatality this morning.
Authorities say Jonathan Scott Latham allegedly attacked a person in Vermilion Parish on Thursday night and drove to a home in Iberia Parish this morning, killed a 78-year-old man and seriously injured an 11-year-old girl.
According to deputies, the young victim is headed to a local hospital and the manhunt for Latham continues. Officials are asking everyone to be on the look out for a 2008 black Honda Civic with a handicapped licenses plate that reads: H29 8023.
It is believed that Jonathan knows this family.

11am, Friday, September 24:

Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, says that his department is searching for the suspect wanted in an Attempted 2nd Degree Murder in Vermilion Parish last night and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Sheriff Couvillon says that at approximately 10:18pm last night, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's patrol division was dispatched to 10416 North Road in Erath, Louisiana regarding a disturbance where a 17 yoa male was cut with a knife on his neck.

Sheriff Couvillon further stated that the accused, Jonathan Scott Latham w/male dob 07/29/1975 had fled the scene in a brownish colored 1997 Honda Accord in an unknown direction of travel.

Sheriff Couvillon also stated that Louisiana State Police, the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office and local Police Departments were contacted to be on the lookout for the suspect and the vehicle.

Sheriff Couvillon says that the victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.

Also at this time, KATC has learned that this case in Iberia Parish is now being investigated as a homicide. The 78-year-old victim was found dead by family members and the 11-year-old victim that was rushed to a local hospital is related to the elderly man, she has been identified as his great-granddaughter.

Neighbors also tell us that the 17-year-old Vermilion Parish teen who suffered injuries on Thursday is Jonathan Latham's girlfriend's son.

Authorities are asking that everyone be on the look out for Jonathan Scott Latham.
