Three parades rolled through Iberia Parish. Grand Marais kicked things off in Jeanerette, followed by Krewe of Coteau and the Family Affair Parade in Loreauville. All the parade goers we talked to say they don't need to go to far to enjoy the festivities.
"We don't have the big city of New Orleans to deal with. Everybody down at home. Good community spirit."
And all of these revelers say that community spirit is what makes these parades the best.
"Everybody sticks together in the community and try to put out a really good parade."
"Everybody that comes out from Coteau, comes out every year and supports us."
"Just a little home town parade, community, small town, know everybody."
These parades may be small, but what they lack in size they make up for in fun.
"Throw me something mister! That's my strategy."
"Sometimes I use my hat and sometimes I use my very good claws."
From the beads to the good times with friends and family these small town parades have a little something for everyone.
