On May 3, 2011 the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Directed Patrol Unit arrested Josh Broussard for for theft, criminal trespass and child abandonment. After Patrol Units were conducting surveillance at a Sugar Mill on the 900 Block of Sugar Mill Road when they observed a vehicle backed against the fence that was surrounding the Mill's property. When deputies approached the vehicle they noticed Broussard inside the perimeter of the fence. Broussard then ran to his vehicle and drove off with deputies following.
Broussard was then arrested and taken into custody on the 900 Block of East Main Street New Iberia. Deputies then realized Broussard had his infant child with him in the vehicle at the time of the theft and as he fled from officers. Deputies also located pieces of metal inside Broussard's vehicle which they believe was stolen from the Mill.
Broussard was then booked into the Iberia Parish Jail, he has since bonded out on a $10,500 bond.
