Iberia Parish deputies say they apprehended one of two alleged burglars after receiving a call Thursday about a possible car break-in.
Sheriff Louis Ackal reports that earlier today at approximately 1:50 p.m., his deputies responded to the 900 block of French Street in New Iberia.
Upon their arrival deputies observed two black male subjects flee the area on foot. Deputies gave chase and arrested one subject, identified as Sakentrey D. James, 18, of New Iberia.
The other suspect, described as a black male wearing a blue shirt, blue and gray shorts, with a short afro hair-style, remains at-large.
James was charged with Simple Criminal Damage to Property, Simple Burglary, and Resisting an Officer by flight and is being booked into the Iberia Parish Jail, awaiting a court appearance.
Anyone with information regarding the identity, or the whereabouts, of the second suspect is urged to contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-369-3711.
