Iberia Council Overrides Veto of Charter Violation Ordinance

The Iberia Parish Council voted Wednesday night to override Parish President Errol Romero's veto of an ordinance setting penalties for charter violations. The council approved the override by an 11-2 vote. According to the council's attorney, any investigative agency--including the parish council--may look into a complaint of a charter violation. Council Clerk Diane Phillips says the ordinance took effect immediately, but it is not retroactive.
