Iberia Coach Arrested for Carnal Knowledge

Shortly before 5:00 pm Wednesday afternoon detectives from the Bureau of Investigations arrested 29 year old Dwayne Bernard of New Iberia. Bernard is a coach at Jeanerette Senior High School and was arrested for 17 counts of Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile and 3 counts of Prohibited Sexual Conduct between an Educator and a Student. Detectives were notified about the relationship between Bernard and a 17 year old female by the school board. Detectives believe the illegal activity between Bernard and the female began in August 2008 when she was 16 years old and most of the sexual activity occurred at his home in New Iberia. Bernard was arrested after an interview at the Bureau of Investigations. Bernard was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail. A $50,000 bond has been set.
