Hurricane Sandy is making landfall over SE Jamaica this afternoon and continues on a northward track at about 14mph. Intensification is possible during the next 12 hours, however is is uncertain after this time frame if land interaction across eastern Cuba could allow structural changes and take a slight toll on Sandy. Sandy is expected to near the central Bahamas by Thursday and should continue on a track northward along a subtropical ridge to the east and a upper low to the west.
Some differences on how much Sandy will interact with a trough over the northeastern US several days from now. If this track becomes more favorable...landfall could be possible over the New England area early next week.
