All this weekend hunters and outdoor enthusiasts are getting a tax break in honor of Louisiana's second amendment sales tax holiday. This is a win for businesses and their customers.
"Now is a good time to take advantage of some cost savings and take advantage of this weekend in all of the many retail areas." said Marc LeBlanc of Barney's Police.
During these three days, people across the state will be exempt from the four percent state and local sales tax just in time for hunting season which begins October 1st. Some things available this tax free weekend are boots, amo and guns a few things consumers can take advantage of.
"Depending on the purchase somebody could save possible fifty dollars or more on a firearm because they don't have to pay any local or state taxes," said Captain Corner of Wildlife and Fisheries.
The tax free weekend typically increases sales by twenty-five percent for some businesses.
"We're expecting a large turn out and possibly allow them to more or better quality merchandise," said LeBlanc.
This event takes place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday the first weekend in September. You can also use the exemption on off-road vehicles designed for hunting. This does not include golf carts, bikes, motorcycles, tractors or other vehicles that may be legally driven on highways.
