Acadiana's own Hunter Hayes is wrapping up a sold out, headlining show at the Heymann Center. Hunter is here Wednesday and Thursday as part of his nationwide "Let's Be Crazy" tour sponsored by Country Music Television. This is the first time the Breaux Bridge native has been back to perform since opening for Carrie Underwood at the Cajundome in April.
Hundreds of Hunter Hayes fans lined up some getting here as early as 5 hours before the show.
"He taught me to never give up and to keep going," said Sarah Tyler of Orange, TX.
Others traveling as much as 7 hours just to be here.
"He's so cute, and I know that sounds stupid, but it's true," said Emily Gilbert of Fort Worth.
And of course there were fans from right here in Acadiana.
"I love him because he's pretty much a hometown hero," said Amanda Martin of Youngsville.
But for some lucky fans the experience started before the Acadiana country music star even took the stage.
"We got autographs, we got everything," said Gilbert and Martin. "We got some VIP passes too."
It's an experience they'll never forget.
"It was surreal, but in the same moment it was so normal," said Gilbert. "It was just like talking to your best friend."
But at the end of the night, it's all about Hunter Hayes performing in front of his hometown crowd.
"Just appreciating his music and him for being a person, and being attractive, and being talented," said Martin. "I guess you could call us Hayniacs."
Hunter Hayes will perform in Lafayette at the Heymann Center Thursday night, but that performance is also sold out. Hunter's "Let's Be Crazy" tour will play in 21 cities and wraps up at the beginning of next month in Missouri.
