A petition to ask the U.S. State Department for assistance in the search for the Nina and its crew is making progress. A spokesman for the Nina search efforts says they planned on 500 petitions within a span of two weeks. That has blossomed to 1,200 petitions in just four days. Support has come from across the world, but Louisiana and Lafayette have given an outpouring of support.
The Nina search efforts hopes the petition will urge the State Department to rev up coast guard, satellites, and Navy ships to help find the ship that has been missing for more than 100 days now.
UL student Danielle Wright and six others were on the ship off the coast of Australia when it went missing.
