The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says its field office in Shreveport is among 16 to be closed nationwide by early in fiscal 2014.
The Shreveport office has 11 employees. Acting Regional Administrator Mark Brezina says in a news release that a large HUD office in New Orleans will remain open. So will the regional office in Fort Worth.
Brezina says the closings will affect about 120 workers and should save $110 million to $150 million over 10 years in lease and operating costs.
New Orleans and Shreveport are the only Louisiana cities where HUD has field offices.
