Ted Dwayne Stevens, Jr., 47, of Houston, was convicted of aggravated rape and second degree sexual battery in the 15th Judicial District Court on July 20. "On December 19, 2010, an officer from the Lafayette Police Department was dispatched to Lafayette General Medical Center in response to a rape that occurred in the parking lot of a local hotel," said District Attorney Mike Harson. Stevens was arrested for the rape. He and the woman knew each other, and Harson's office worked with the Harris County Sheriff's Office to arrest Stevens in February of this year on 65 felony counts of sexual assault against the same woman. Prosecution of those charges are pending in Harris County, said Harson.
