The official calendar start of summer is still about a week away, but we're already stuck in a summer pattern that doesn't look to break anytime soon.
Humidity seems to have made a a permanent home here in south Louisiana, as it always does this time of year, and will be driving the heat index up this week.
Highs will be getting into the low 90s all week, however, that heat index will be pushing the triple digits.
Central Louisiana will be the hottest areas as the cooling influence of the Gulf of Mexico is much less effective inland.
High pressure which has been off to the east will start to back build slightly which will limit the shower chances we have in the afternoon.
Still this time of year it is unwise to rule out showers completely so will stick with a 10-20 percent chance of rain through the week.
This will be the general pattern through most of the extended forecast although late next week we could see an increase in showers.
