The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana, formerly Southwest Medical Center is undergoing a multi-million dollar face lift. It was high on the priority list, bringing the newly renamed medical center
"Up to date on every level. With equipment and with our facilities, with our patient furniture, just an environment that is just healing." said Briggs
Getting rid of what system C.E.O. Vicki Briggs calls an old, sterile, clinical look of a typical hospital.
"Every elevator lobby is gonna have new floors, new wallpaper, and every floor will have a different color."
The Regional Medical System of Acadiana was formed in July and Briggs says they're not wasting any time making the facility look more like a healing environment.
"You know people actually assume they get great quality healthcare, but they're not really able to define that." said Briggs
Briggs says a hospital with a healing environment adds to the healing process.
"Having nice soothing colors which everything has been focused on helps the healing process." said Briggs

ach floor will be a different color to also help patients and their families maneuver easily through the hospital by accenting the floors and the walls.
B
riggs says the bulk of the renovations will be on the hospital's second floor, the pulse of the facility where the operating rooms, intensive care unit, and the CATH lab are all housed.

he hospital plans to spend about $10 million in renovations and equipment. The project is set to be complete early next year.
