The mission of Hospice of Acadiana is to provide comfort, care, education and peace to the patients and their families.
Thursday, August 28, the organization will host a special presentation on skin cancer prevention. The presentation will begin at noon at the Hospice of Acadiana Conference Center in Lafayette.
Pre-registration for the class is required.
Hospice of Acadiana is also reaching out and asking for volunteers to come and join Acadiana's only non- profit and oldest Hospice care provider.
A representative of the organization says that volunteers play a vital role in providing care and support to the patients and their families.
Duties of the volunteers include: visiting with the patients in their home or hospitals as patient care or pastoral care volunteers. Volunteers are also needed to help with the bereavement program, assist in clerical duties, fundraising events and speaker's bureau.
For anyone interested in becoming a volunteer, training is Monday, September 15 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Hospice Conference Center. To register for training or the skin cancer prevention presentation call (337) 232-1234.
