Homicide Arrest in Lafayette

A suspect is arrested for a September 18th homicide. Lafayette Police with the assistance of the US Marshal's Fugitive Task Force, the Abbeville Police Department and the Vermilion Parish Sheriffs Office have arrested Jamal Carmouche, 25 of Lafayette. Carmouche was arrested on a 2nd Degree Murder warrant today in Abbeville without incident.
Carmouche is accused of killing Markus Luke Despanie, 30, of Lafayette. Despanie was discovered in the road at the intersection of North Pierce and Gilman Street in Lafayette. He had a single gunshot wound. The case remains under investigation.
