The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office says it has taken more than $60,000 in drugs off the streets following a high-speed chase last night. According to deputies, 33-year-old Chris Pellerin sped away when they tried to stop him. They also say Pellerin tossed some of the drugs out his window during the chase. Pellerin was caught after he crashed his car at the corner of Main and Lewis Streets.
Officials say they found marijuana, cocaine, crystal meth, and a variety of pills in Pellerin's vehicle. He was arrested in multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute, aggravated flight from an officer, and resisting arrest.
A second person connected to the case, 27-year-old Brandi Romero, was also arrested. She is charged with illegal possession of narcotics and possession with intent to distribute. Deputies say she was not in the car at the time of the chase.
