"The face of hunger isn't typically what we thought it to be,"said Amy Fusilier of Second Harvest Food Bank.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Acadiana is asking you to help feed people in Southern Louisiana in the national Pound for Pound Challenge presented by General Mills, " Biggest Loser", and Feeding America.
"It's a great awareness opportunity for people out there who are hungry. This is just on of the many ways to be able to fight hunger,"said Fusilier.
All you need to do is pledge to lose as many pounds as you want. For every pound pledged, general mills will donate 11 cents to food banks.
"It's a very easy opportunity to get involved with hunger fighting efforts,"said Fusilier.
Fuslier of Second Harvest Food Bank says 1 in every 8 people in South Louisiana is hungry.
It's even more serious for children--- with 25 percent of them hungry.
"It's a problem most people don't realize is actually occuring,"said Fusilier.
Last year, people across the parishes pledged 22,000 pounds--- Fuslier hopes this year, they'll reach their goal of 30,000 pounds.
"What we want to do is make sure every person experiencing some form of hunger has that need satisfied where they are no longer hungry,"said Fusilier.

You can make your pledge until May.
