It's a bird, it's a plane, no, it's a helicopter flying around Lafayette and KATC callers want to know what's going on. We found out the helicopter is performing a survey for Lafayette Utilities System. The North American Electric Reliability Council, which ensures and enforces electric grid reliability, requires utility companies to survey lines to determine whether they're lower than normal or if they're too close to vegetation to cause interruption to service. LUS Director Terry Huval says work is expected to be completed today.
