Easter is on its way. Thousands of eggs were scattered across Acadiana as boys and girls grabbed their baskets to hit the ground running. But if you were looking for eggs in Jennings, all you had to do was look up. Thousands of eggs were dropped from a helicopter at Our Savior's Church in Jennings.
"This is the Super Bowl of being a Christian. We celebrate a risen lord that has changed our lives," Pastor Bubba McCann of Our Savior's Church in Jennings said.
Children darted to snatch up close to 30,000 eggs and fill up their baskets. The free event included bouncy houses, face-painting, food and more. Egg hunter Roari Atkins enjoyed the helicopter egg drop.
"I thought that was pretty cool. When I get older I want to do that," egg hunter Roari Atkins said.
The event was much bigger than McCann had anticipated with over 3,000 people.
"The reason we do that is because we love our community, we love Jennings and Eunice and Crowley and we have such great people in our community," McCann.
McCann said this family friendly event celebrates having a good time, and the reason for the season.
"We do the work, but we get more joy watching the kids and parents have a good time," McCann said.
