Three workers were rescued Thursday evening after the helicopter they were in tipped into the Gulf of Mexico.
The chopper is owned by Lafayette based company, PHI. Witnesses said the chopper was leaving an oil platform in Main Pass, in Plaquemines Parish, when it happened.
The helicopter is equipped to land in the water. It was in the water when the pilot said a motor failed as he was trying to take off. The three men on board were treated for minor injuries.
