Hearing Into the Deepwater Horizon Disaster Has Resumed

KENNER, La. (AP) - A federal hearing into the Deepwater Horizon
disaster has resumed in New Orleans with complaints coming from
attorneys for two rig workers who are possible targets of the
investigation.
Attorneys for the two rig workers said Monday that their clients
weren't named as "parties in interest," meaning possible targets
of the investigation, until after they testified at an earlier
hearing in May. One attorney said the hearing panel had
"sandbagged" his client.
A Coast Guard captain who is one of six panel members
questioning witnesses, defended the panel, saying there was no
presumption of guilt or innocence before the hearings began in May.
The captain said information developed at the hearing led to the
"party of interest" designation.
The hearing is being held in the New Orleans suburb of Kenner.
