LAFAYETTE, LA - The Lafayette Parish Master Gardeners Association in partnership with the Vermilionville Living History Museum and Folklife Park invites the community to join in a free series beginning on Saturday, July 20 from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Vermilionville called Healing Traditions in Acadiana.
The Healing Traditions in Acadiana series aims to broaden local historical knowledge of healing practices in Acadiana by making the public aware of the need to preserve medicinal plants as well as the knowledge of their uses.
For the first installment in the series, Cajun & Creole Spiritual Healing, local practicing traiteur Allen Simon will talk about the ancient healing techniques of the traiteurs. The talk will also cover how these traditions are handed down through the generations as well as the utilization of Catholic prayer and the use of medicinal remedies.
Healing Traditions in Acadiana is a free series in partnership with the Lafayette Parish Master Gardners and the Vermilionville Living History Museum and Folklife Park. For more information about the series visit Vermilionville.org or call (337) 233-4077.
