HAZMAT officials were called to a scene where state police were investigating an explosive device found on a construction site in River Ranch.
Workers in the 100 block of Settlers Trace say the device was found on the construction site near the intersection with River Ranch Blvd. All construction workers on site were evacuated however, no houses or businesses in that area were.
River Ranch Blvd is a highly traveled area. Across the street from the construction site is a dance studio with children taking class. Since the streets were blocked off, frantic parents were forced to get out of their cars and walk to pick up their children. "It's kinda scary. You turn the corner and the police and yellow tape stops you from going," said concerned grand mother Irene Clement.
Law enforcement officers were out all evening investigating. Around 7pm they rendered the bomb safe. Why or who someone would want to destroy that area remains a mystery. The case has since been turned over to HAZ-MAT for further investigation.
