A Harvey Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 official has agreed to pay a $10,000 fine for violating state ethics laws.
The Advocate reports the fine came as part of a settlement of Louisiana Board of Ethics conflict-of-interest charges against Tim Thiebaud.
The charges related to business the fire company did with Thiebaud and his wife Donna's business, Thiebaud's Emergency Vehicle Lighting & Supplies, while he was assistant fire chief and a fire company board member.
The board also said that in his position as assistant fire chief, Thiebaud requested that the fire company purchase $28,069 in supplies from his business.
Under terms of the agreement, Thiebaud will pay the fine off in $200 a month installments over 50 months.
