Fifteenth Judicial District Attorney Mike Harson says his office is still waiting for an investigative report from the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office in the Skylar Credeur murder case, but is being told the file will be forthcoming once the results from lab tests are returned.
To date, no one has been charged with Credeur's murder, although her stepfather, Kerry Bertrand, 43, is still being held in the Acadia Parish Jail as a person of interest.
Harson says the case will be presented to a grand jury after it is received.
"If we get it in time, we could present it at the October grand jury," Harson said Friday. "If not, we can present in November."
The 20-year-old Credeur was found dead in a bathtub at her home on Aug. 21. Deputies were called back to the house after their initial investigation and found Bertrand in the attic.
He was arrested on a charge of molestation and violating five protective orders. One of those orders was filed by Credeur just days before she died.
Harson has said we will seek a charge of first-degree murder in the case.
