The Lafayette Police Department has stepped up its enforcement of Handicap Parking at area parking lots within the City of Lafayette. On Friday, November 27, 2009, officers with the Lafayette Police Department wrote 19 Handicap Parking citations in parking lots at retail outlets throughout the city. This enforcement will continue through the holiday season. The public is reminded that Handicap parking is reserved for those individuals with proper credentials to include assigned license plates and rear view mirror hangers. The person with the appropriate credentials must be accompanying the vehicle when utilizing these parking spaces.
Anyone observing a violation is encouraged to call 911 or report the information to the business where the parking lot is located.
