COVINGTON, La. (AP) - A 41-year-old Hammond man has received a 40-year prison sentence for his role in a 2011 Covington bank robbery.
A jury convicted Jason Daniel Renard of armed robbery in October after 90 minutes of deliberation.
After a one-day trial, a jury decided Renard was guilty of walking in to Central Progressive Bank, now First NBC Bank, on Louisiana 21 South of Covington on Oct. 7, 2011, handing the teller a note, demanding money and lifting his shirt to reveal a handgun.
Renard was sentenced on Feb. 4.
He admitted to throwing his gun and money -- which had been marked by an exploding dye pack -- out of his getaway car.
