HAMMOND, La. (AP) - The Hammond City Council has unanimously approved a number of employee title and job changes sought by Mayor Mayson Foster in a move to restructure city government.
The Advocate reports the major change splits the Department of Planning and Grants into separate entities.
The grants manager, who formerly held the title of grants coordinator, will answer directly to the Mayor's Office. The administrative assistant for grants will become a grants writer.
Foster said that as mayor, he works closely with the Grants Department and the large number of past and future grants justifies the change.
Foster said the reshuffling of titles and positions had been under consideration for a considerable amount of time and no new employees will be hired.
